The Yolk Area mainly focuses on the core service industries of airport, while the Protein Area clusters with supportive service industries of airport, including aeronautics and maintenance, logistics, warehousing, conferencing, exhibition, e-commerce, cloud, and other industries that are suitable to develop in the adjacent area of airport. Taoyuan Aerotropolis Project is not just a transportation hub construction, but a practice of Airport Economy with diverse activities of industries and business happening. Hence, more talents are required to meet the demands.

Three objectives are included in Taoyuan Aerotropolis Project, Mayor Cheng said. Therefore, constructions such as the 3rd Runway, the 3rd Terminal, and the Free Trade Zone are included, while development projects like transportation, logistics, and tourism. The second is to develop investment plans for industries, so as to allow more and bigger investments to the airport- related industries. Currently, there have been some benefits and results on this regard. The third is about the management of smarty city. There are two major challenges ahead for the development of Taoyuan Airport, pointed out by Mayor Cheng. First, as the scale of the airport expands, the question of how to demonstrate Taiwan’s ability to run and manage it will emerge. Second, how can we take the advantage of the convenience brought by the airport and transform the transportation hub as investment in industries in order to further boost the commercial and industrial activities.

Mayor Cheng also mentioned that since Qingpu District is situated in the proximity of the airport, the city government is planning to build convention center, Asian center for innovative talent exchange, and city museum of art. Along with the Comprehensive Development Plan of Cathay Life Insurance at the rear of the HSR Station, investment promotion for the front will commence soon as well.
