2016 Taoyuan Shopping Festival - Mayor Cheng: An opportunity to generate consumption and market Taoyuan
While chairing a municipal administration meeting and reviewing the presentation of the “2016 Taoyuan Shopping Festival” given by the Department of Economic Development, Taoyuan City Mayor Cheng Wen-Tsan expressed that the Shopping Festival would be held from October 27th to October 30th 2016 at the Taoyuan Sake Brewery. The Shopping Festival is held in combination with the Taoyuan Sake Brewery Festival, and is furnished with the “Japanese Cultural and Merchandise Exchange Area” and a large number of other exciting theme-based areas for various merchandises as well as theme-based activities such as the Japanese tuna show, off-islands huangyu mian (yellow croaker noodles), and creative cuisine PK competitions to attract visitors, generate consumption, and promote the charms of Taoyuan city.
Taoyuan Sake Brewery occupies an area of about 20 hectares, and includes many attractions and amenities that include sake brewing facilities, wine workshops, Taiwanese alcoholic beverage manufacturing museum and liquor bank. Mayor Cheng assigned the Department of Public Information of work with the Taoyuan Sake Brewery to help promote the Brewery while marketing the attractions of Taoyuan city.
Mayor Cheng expressed that the October 27th 2016 event of Hakka silver needle noodles, Japanese Sanuki Udon noodles, and Taiwan Tabacco & Liquor Corporation (TTL) Sesame Oil Chicken Instant Noodles creative cuisine PK competition would be a key highlight of the opening ceremony. The Department of Economic Development was charged with promoting theme-based exhibitions, product images, and preparing exclusive memorabilia. The Department of Public Information and Department of Tourism were assigned to support these activities to improve marketing power. The expected number of visitors may exceed 100,000. The Department of Transportation was therefore charged with providing additional shuttle buses to facilitate commute.
Director-general Chu Sung-Wei of the Department of Economic Development expressed that the Taoyuan Shopping Festival was an event designed to promote Made in Taoyuan (MIT) brands with goods directly supplied from factories or produce grown within the city. The Taoyuan Shopping Festival would be held from October 27th to October 30th 2016 at the Taoyuan Sake Brewery. The venue is divided into theme-based stalls that include Taoyuan’s Best, Souvenirs, Off-islands Features, and Tourism Factories. A free shuttle ride has been arranged between Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital to Taoyuan Sake Brewery to improve visitors’ access.
