Celebrating the 105th Double Tenth National Day - Mayor Cheng: Hopes that Taoyuan City will become a green city with energy saving and carbon reduction features
While attending the “105th National Day Celebrations of the Central Government and Various Organizations of the Republic of China” held at the plaza in front of the Presidential Office Building in the morning of October 10th 2016, Taoyuan City Mayor Cheng Wen-Tsan expressed in a media interview that one of the performance of the National Day Celebration, titled e-moving: A mile of carbon savings for a mile of blessings, involves village chiefs of Taoyuan City riding electric scooters as part of the endeavor to transform Taoyuan into a green, energy efficient, and low carbon city.
Mayor Cheng said that China Motor Corporation and Taoyuan City have jointly released “A mile of carbon savings for a mile of blessings” program, providing a free electric scooter for each of the 495 village chiefs of Taoyuan City for a period of two years to help serve village residents. It is hoped that the program will help Taoyuan City achieve stellar performances in low carbon and green urban development in the future.
