Taoyuan City Mayor Wen-Tsan Cheng attended “the MOU Signing Ceremony with Mendoza College of Business, University of Notre Dame (MCB-UND)” today (March 9). Mayor Cheng commented that “Taoyuan Aerotropolis Project” and “The Asian Silicon Valley Development Plan” are vital to the next stage of the industrial development in Taiwan, in which the creation of innovative ecosystem, talent cultivation, and higher education internationalization are key steps. The Mayor extended his gratitude to the President of National Chiao Tung University Mau-Chung Frank Chang for introducing the both parties, so that Taoyuan may expedite the internationalization of higher education, bridge to the world, and become the cradle for talent cultivation for “the Asian Silicon Valley”.
 
Established in 1921, the Mendoza College of Business at theUniversity of Notre Dame is located in Indiana, USA, an outstanding college that ranked No. 15 by US News and World Reports; in 2013, it was recognized as the first among The Best B-Schools by Bloomberg Businessweek, and kept the title for the 4th years in a row; it was among the top 100 business schools throughout the world by the Financial Times, in2016 said Mayor Cheng.
 
It is a good start to sign an industry-university MOU, signifying a long-term collaborative relationship between the two parties, including setting up “EMBA Taoyuan” or other professional programs in Taoyuan as well as other industrial-university collaboration, Mayor Cheng said. In “The Asian Silicon Valley Development Plan”, the base in Qingpu will be utilized to set up “Asian Innovative R&D Center”. More international industry-universiy institutes are welcome to start from Taoyuan to introduce more innovation and talent cultivation momentum for the development of industries in Taiwan.

Dr. Frank Chang, President of National Chiao Tung University, Mr. Wang Ming-Teh, Deputy Mayor of Taoyuan City, Mr. Chiu Chun-Ming, Deputy Secretary-General of Taoyuan City, Mr. Chen Hsi-Chen, Director-General of the Department of Land Administration, Mr. Chu Sung-Wei, Director-General of the Department of Economic Development, Mr. Wang Wen-Yen, Director-General of the Department of Public Health, Mr. Yen Tzu-Chieh, Director-General of the Department of General Affairs, Dr. Kao An-Pang, Director-General of the Department of Education, Mr. Kun-I Liu, the Taoyuan Metro Corporation Chairman, Mr. Liu Chen-Cheng, Deputy Director-general of the Department of Urban Development, Mr. Wang Shu-Bin, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Public Works, and Tseng Rong-Ying, Vice Chairman of Research And Evaluation Commission attended the ceremony.
