Tsai Chin’s Taiwan Tour

“Passion for Formosa” - Tsai Chin’s Taiwan Tour to Start at Taoyuan on July 9th. Mayor Cheng: We look forward to more cultural events and popular music performances in Taoyuan

While attending Tsai Chin’s “Passion for Formosa” 2016 Taiwan performance tour press conference held at Taoyuan International Airport on March 9th, Taoyuan City Mayor Cheng Wen-Tsan expressed that Tsai Chin’s voice is a common memory to the 23 million people in Taiwan and has soothed the hearts of many. The “Passion for Formosa” tour selected Taoyuan for their first performance which would be held on July 9th at the Taoyuan International Baseball Stadium. Mayor Cheng hoped that more cultural and popular music performances could be held in Taoyuan to help demonstrate Taoyuan’s confidence and charms.

Mayor Cheng pointed out that Tsai Chin’s voice was a common memory for people who grew up in Taiwan, and described himself as a fan who even attended Tsai Chin’s musical titled “Running Angel.” Tsai Chin had participated in many oversea tours and performances in recent years that were warmly received in Chinese markets, making her a representative classical artist. Taoyuan is a “Gateway City” of Taiwan, and the “Passion for Formosa” tour has selected the city as its first station. Mayor Cheng hoped that more cultural and popular music performances could be held in Taoyuan in the future.

Mayor Cheng also praised Ever Rich Duty Free Shop for sponsoring the concert. Ever Rich is a famous Taiwanese company that has integrated commercial, service, and cultural features. The stationing of Ever Rich in Taoyuan Airport was a part of the government''s strategy and a perfect example in using private capital and innovation to revitalize public facilities. Ever Rich is also an active participant of charity activities, making it a “Corporate Citizen” of Taoyuan.

Mayor Cheng expressed that the Ministry of Transportation and Communications scheduled the completion of the third runway in the airport in 2030, that progress is too slow. If the airport has any need of expansion, they should conduct preliminary administrative processes as soon as possible and strengthen the capacities of airport terminals, runways, and airspace. The Taoyuan Airport Corporation recently improved their overall service standards and operational management competences. These are expected to pursue higher standards and provide better services in the future.

Mayor Cheng pointed out that there were as many as 1,700 logistic companies in Taoyuan, and this figure would be expected to reach 2,500 companies once the Taoyuan Aerotropolis Project finalized to transform Taoyuan into an important logistics base in Northeast Asia. Since last year, a total of 24 preliminary hearings had been held for the Taoyuan Aerotropolis Project. 6 more formal hearings have been arranged in end of April and early May. Once these hearings were finalized, the results would then be submitted to the Ministry of the Interior for review.
