December 4th 2015, Taoyuan Mayor, Cheng Wen-Tsan was meeting with Benoît Guidée, the Director of French Office in Taipei and said “Director Guidée was inaugurated as director of the French Office in Taipei in September this year. He is a very remarkable diplomat. Hopefully, he would like to make friends in Taiwan and can do successfully in diplomatic work. Taiwan is a very important partner for France in Asia. Therefore, enhancement of economy, trade and cultural exchange between Taiwan and France is the major business of the French Office in Taipei. Really looking forward that both Taiwan and France can improve the cooperation and exchange in all the aspects, and also deepen our friendship.”
“Taoyuan is a very important logistic base in Taiwan, so there are about 1700 logistic companies settled in Taoyuan. Since the flight duration from Taoyuan to many major cities in Asia is within 4 hours, settling logistic base at Taoyuan and delivering merchandises to many countries such as China, Korea or Japan, etc., would have really great convenience. This is a really great advantage for French fashion brand to set up marketing, sales and logistic center at Taoyuan,” Mayor Cheng said.
“There are many important sociologists, anthropologists and philosophers in France. The world is becoming better thanks to France. Therefore, we have to cherish the technological and cultural accomplishment of France. Culture, city management, transportation and environmental technology are all really valuable for Taiwan to learn. Taoyuan and France can have broader exchange,” Mayor Cheng mentioned.
Director of the French Office in Taipei, Benoît Guidée said “In the future, Taoyuan and France can have more exchange and cooperation in many different aspects, such as culture, democracy and innovation. For examples, Student exchange, Taiwan Lantern Festival, Transparent government and urban renewal are also included. Moreover, aerotropolis plan is a good chance to have a further cooperation with France regarding technology. To share and exchange the experience of public infrastructure and ecological district, the affiliated companies in France also can provide assistance to help them running their business more smoothly.”
