On November 15th 2015, Taoyuan Mayor, Cheng Wen-Tsan attended “Filipinos, Vietnams, Indonesians and Thais gathering at Taoyuan”, the four nations carnival at Taoyuan City stadium and said “Taoyuan is the city with the most foreign employees in Taiwan, that is about 96,000 people. Those foreign employees from Philippine, Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand travel across the oceans to Taoyuan. They bring to Taiwan abundant and diversified southeastern culture, and also help Taoyuan to become a prosperous and well-developed city as present. In future, city government will hold more music, food and art festivals to let all the workers at Taoyuan can feel homey. Furthermore, city government will cooperate with companies to create better life and working environment and treat foreign employees from these four countries as Taiwan VIP.” 

“He has been visiting Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and Philippine. The initial letters of these four countries can form an acronym as “TVIP”. No matter government or enterprises, we all should treat those foreign employees from the four countries as “Taiwan VIP” and possess the attitude of “people who come to Taiwan are our families,” indicated Mayor Cheng.

“In June, City Government, Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei and Vietnamese immigrant association in Taiwan jointly held the “Shinny Vietnam Concert” at Zhongli Arts Hall. In future, city government also will hold more events. Through food and music festivals, the friendship between friends from southeastern Asian and Taoyuan citizens can be improved. In future, city government will also find an appropriate place to build a southeastern style park, and let foreign employees and immigrants can have a place to get together or hold event,” mentioned Mayor Cheng.
